V’s Journey Begins: A Memorable Departure to Military Service
February 8th became a day to remember for BTS’s V, also known as Kim Taehyung. Crowds watched as he navigated his way from Chuncheon Station to his awaiting military transport. His military saga commenced on December 11, marking the end of his civilian life and the start of a new chapter with the 2nd Corps’ Military Police Battalion.
The challenge began with V’s application to the Capital Defense Command’s Special Duty Team (SDT). He sailed through the initial screenings, aced the interviews, and surpassed the physical tests. December 11 was not just another day; it was the day when V stepped into the recruit training center, embarking on his military training journey. Five weeks of rigorous basic training followed. Then, V advanced to the Army Combined Administration School for three more weeks of specialized training.
After conquering his advanced training, V found his new home within the esteemed “Ssangyong Unit” of the 2nd Corps. This unit, a proud part of the Ground Operations Command, welcomed V into its ranks. He now serves directly under the Military Police Battalion of the 2nd Corps.

V’s military enrollment follows a proud tradition within BTS. RM, his bandmate, embarked on his own journey last month, joining the 15th Infantry Division in Hwacheon. This division, known as the Victory Division, carries a legacy of valor and undefeated records from the Korean War era, including the notable engagements in the Goseong area.

Meanwhile, J-Hope started his service last April, taking on the role of a drill instructor within the 36th Infantry Division’s recruit training battalion in Wonju. His journey through military life concludes on October 17, 2024.
V’s Arrival: A Beacon of Light at the 2nd Corps
The moment V stepped into the 2nd Corps in Chuncheon, Gangwon-do, he was on a mission. He joined the special task force of the Military Police Battalion, ready to serve with honor. His arrival was unmissable. Even behind a mask and cap, V’s presence was luminous, his charm undeniable.
The military recognized V’s dedication and excellence right from the start. Alongside RM, he was celebrated as one of the top recruits, a distinction given to only about 5 out of 200 soldiers. This honor highlights their outstanding academic performances and exemplary behavior during training.
